Hudisa has been honoured with the SME Award for Internationalisation, which was collected this morning at IFEMA in Madrid by Antonio Tirado, president of HUDISA.

This national recognition highlights the export capacity, innovation, and global reach of the country’s most important small and medium-sized enterprises.

During his speech, Tirado stressed that this award ‘has profound significance’ for Hudisa, as it recognises the success of a unique cooperative model, based on the union of more than 1,000 farmers who have made the company a benchmark in European agribusiness. ‘They are the essence of Hudisa and, through their daily efforts, have enabled a project that began in Lepe to establish itself as a sustainable, competitive industry with a global reach,’ he said.

International leadership from Huelva to more than 30 countries

Hudisa exports purées, concentrates, and frozen fruit to more than 30 countries on five continents, establishing itself as one of the key players in the global red fruit sector. This award, Tirado stressed, is ‘an extraordinary boost’ for the company, reinforcing its reputation as an innovative industry and motivating its team of more than 90 professionals.

The award also highlights the importance of the company’s shareholders —Caja Rural del Sur and the Diputación Provincial de Huelva— whose support, since Hudisa was founded in 2002, has been decisive for its growth and international consolidation.

In a highly competitive sector, the president of Hudisa defended the company’s role as a strategic ally of farmers: ‘Hudisa ensures fruit collection 365 days a year, offers fair prices and total transparency, works with ESG criteria, and has the highest level of certifications such as BRC, IFS, SGF, CAAE, HALAL, KOSHER, and FDA.’

Tirado announced in his speech that the company is moving forward with an ambitious investment master plan, structured around four main areas: continuous improvement of production processes to strengthen industrial efficiency; new environmental investments aimed at reducing the water and carbon footprint; greater digitalisation, aimed at a fully connected and optimised plant; and a boost to R&D&I to develop new products adapted to international demands in the food and health sector. These investments will open up new opportunities for farmers, consolidate production capacity, and strengthen the confidence of customers around the world.

A collective award

The president concluded by highlighting the shared nature of the recognition: ‘I accept this award on behalf of everyone: the women and men who take care of the fruit we process every day, those who work in the factory and those who, for more than two decades, have built a project that is now a benchmark in southern Europe.’

Tirado closed his speech by recalling the cooperative essence of the company: ‘Hudisa is an example of how an agro-industrial company can be innovative, sustainable, and global without losing its roots. From Huelva to the world, we continue to transform red fruits with quality, commitment, and a firm vision of the future… without forgetting that together we are stronger.’

Antonio Tirado expressed his gratitude to IFEMA Madrid, the newspaper Expansión, and the collaborators of this edition —Orange, SGR-Cesgar, Bankinter, and CE Consulting— for highlighting Spanish entrepreneurial effort and talent.
