Lepe, 4 April 2025. Hudisa, a leading company in the production and commercialisation of berry purées, concentrates, and frozen fruit, has successfully passed the SMETA Audit SMETA audit (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) for the third consecutive year. This achievement underlines its continued commitment to the principles of social responsibility, business ethics, and environmental sustainability, social responsibility, business ethics, and environmental sustainability.
The SMETA audit, the most widely used globally, allows companies to assess and improve their labour and social practices, both internally and in their supply chain. Through this audit, Hudisa once again demonstrates its dedication to meeting the highest ethical and social standards, ensuring that its industrial and labour processes are fair, inclusive, and responsible.
The assessment focuses on four key pillars: health and safety, labour standards, environment, and business ethics. Using the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) code and local regulations, Hudisa has chosen to audit itself on all these aspects, ensuring that it complies with best practices in each
Aspects assessed include respect for freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, compliance with minimum wages, eradication of discrimination, and ensuring safe, healthy, and hygienic working conditions. This is in line with Hudisa’s commitment to providing a fair and ethical working environment for both its employees and the suppliers it works with.
Success in this audit not only reinforces Hudisa’s corporate image but also improves the perception of the company in the eyes of its customers, suppliers, employees, and collaborators. By publishing the results of the audit in the SEDEX database, Hudisa positions itself as a company committed to continuous improvement in terms of business ethics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and sustainability. This visibility further strengthens its brand and reinforces its reputation as a leader in the berry-processed sector.
SMETA and its value in the supply chain
The SMETA audit also allows Hudisa to get to know its suppliers better, ensuring that they meet the same ethical standards as the company. In this way, it can identify areas for improvement and ensure that all parties involved in the production process are socially responsible.
The industrial production model has traditionally not taken into account the impact of activities on the environment, which makes it even more relevant to pass audits such as the SMETA. For Hudisa, this audit represents an important step towards sustainability and the continuous improvement of its business practices, contributing to the creation of a fairer and more ethical working and production environment.
